COMPAMED, Dusseldorf, Germany, 12th November 2018 – The HDBaseT Alliance, the cross-industry group tasked with promoting and advancing the HDBaseT standard, is pleased to announce the establishment of the HDBaseT Medical Work Group to develop an industry standard for secure medical connectivity. HDBaseT is the ultimate technology for high performance digital connectivity, enabling the convergence of audio & video, Ethernet, controls, USB and power over a single Cat6 cable for up to 100m, or even longer distances with fiber.
With increased needs for high performance digital connectivity in the healthcare sector, HDBaseT can deliver the high performance, low latency, and flexibility needed for operating rooms, patient monitoring, and diagnostics. HDBaseT simplifies cabling infrastructure, streamlines cross-vendor interoperability, and enables high-bandwidth uncompressed transmissions, a must during advanced imaging and surgical procedures.
“The Alliance’s Medical Work Group will focus on the simplification of device connectivity in the healthcare field by adapting the HDBaseT standard to the market and certification requirements of medical devices,” said André Fortdran, Co-chair of the HDBaseT Alliance Medical Work Group and Product Marketing Manager Medical at ADLINK. “By reviewing the trends in the market and identifying the potential of current use cases, our goal is to optimize HDBaseT to address the specific challenges in this sector, and to define the specifications in accordance to worldwide regulations.”
“The HDBaseT Alliance continues to identify and target those sectors that can benefit from advanced, high performance wired connectivity,” said Ariel Sobelman, President of the HDBaseT Alliance. “The medical sector is a natural next step for us, as the market continues to expand technologically, and must depend on the most reliable connectivity systems in the market. HDBaseT can deliver the high performance expected with simplicity and optimization of resources.”
Several companies have joined the Medical Work Group, including ADLINK, advoli, ATEN, Fabrimex, LG Electronics, SILORA R&D, and Valens.
