HDBaseT at the Head of the Class

Details

Administrators at the GateWay Community College (GWC) in Phoenix, AZ wanted to incorporate leading edge audio/visual and IT classrooms in their new Integrated Education Building (IEB) and remodeled Maricopa Skill Center (MSC) campus. The new 125,000 sq.ft. (11,600 sq.m.) IEB includes 15 dual-screen classrooms, a single screen art studio and a three-screen multi-purpose room, seating more than 200. The MSC remodel/addition featured 23 new classrooms, a PC networking lab, vocational skills labs, two conference rooms and a tri-divisible multi-purpose room.
The goal of the AV project was to allow students and faculty to access digital AV and HDCP content intuitively, without burdening technical support staff with complex troubleshooting efforts. The solution needed to support both digital and analog devices in the classrooms, and administrators hoped to reduce the size and cost of lectern-to-projector cabling. The result was a simple model that could be replicated in each classroom, comprised of HDBaseT transmitters/receivers, matrix switchers, and audio de-embedders.
