Dusseldorf, Germany, November 13, 2017 – The HDBaseT Alliance, the cross-industry group tasked with promoting and advancing the HDBaseT standard, will be showcasing the benefits of HDBaseT technology in high-performance surgical video transmission during medical procedures at the Medica 2017 World Forum for Medicine (November 13-16, 2017). The HDBaseT Alliance will be hosted at Medica by Alliance member NDS, Hall 10, Stand G14.
HDBaseT is the one-cable solution designed to meet the demands of high-quality imaging in the healthcare sector. HDBaseT technology allows for the convergent delivery of the 5Play feature set: uncompressed ultra-high-definition audio & video, Ethernet, controls, USB 2.0 and up to 100W of power over a single LAN (Cat6 or above) cable, or fiber. HDBaseT enables video performance with near-zero latency, delivering an advanced and reliable connectivity solution that meets the high standards of today’s medical-grade visualization technologies. HDBaseT also simplifies the overall infrastructure, reducing cable clutter for an optimized medical environment.
At Medica, NDS will be launching a new integrated operating room network solution called VIMA that is based on the HDBaseT architecture. The new VIMA video management and patient procedure record/capture system is a powerful addition to the integrated operating room, design engineered to enhance control of complex visualization systems. Utilizing state-of-the-art network technology processing, VIMA is designed to transmit and receive uncompressed video, provide power to other devices, communicate bi-directional serial control, and enable network connectivity all through one Ethernet cable. From a simple and intuitive 15” or 21” touch-screen interface, clinical staff can easily manage a multitude of various medical imaging sources, switch and route to desired monitors, and initiate recording and image capture within the patient record via the DICOM/PACS interface.
“HDBaseT is the standard for digital connectivity, and has been used in several verticals, such as digital signage, education, industrial, consumer electronics, hospitality and more. Given the quality and performance that HDBaseT delivers, it is a clear choice for connectivity in the medical setting. We are looking forward to partnering with NDS to showcase the potential of HDBaseT in healthcare.”
Ariel Sobelman, President, HDBaseT Alliance
“Simplifying connectivity complexities in the operating room, while delivering more visualization data and control performance through a single cable is another example of NDS innovation for endoscopy applications. HDBaseT technology is enabling us to further our goal to provide OEM partners integrated OR technologies that offer surgeons and nurses uncompromised integration quality and flexibility.”
Karim Khadr, President and General Manager, NDS
