Amsterdam, ISE 2016 – February 09, 2016 – The HDBaseT Alliance, the cross-industry group tasked with promoting and advancing HDBaseT technology, and Worlddidac, the global trade association for companies providing products for education and training, announced today that they are cooperating to advance HDBaseT products in the educational sector.
HDBaseT enables the transmission of ultra-high-definition audio & video, Ethernet, controls, bidirectional USB, and up to 100W of power, for long distances over one single cable. For the education market, this is particularly relevant for projectors, including short-throw projectors, and interactivity applications suitable to the classroom. HDBaseT main benefits for this market include:
- Quality: HDBaseT supports up to 4K video resolution, including 3D, allowing students to enjoy the highest quality image available, and enriching the learning experience.
- Length: Transmission for up to 100m (328ft) over a single LAN (category) cable. LAN cables are simple to install and field-terminate, minimizing labor costs and complexities. HDBaseT also enables daisy-chaining of several displays, which can be used across campuses.
- Bidirectional USB: HDBaseT allows for the bidirectional transmission of USB signals, crucial for interactive applications, with no latency or delays.
- Standardized technology: HDBaseT has been adopted by hundreds of equipment manufacturers, and deployed in thousands of products, facilitating interoperability among different brands.
The HDBaseT Alliance has joined Worlddidac organization. Conversely, Worlddidac has also joined the HDBaseT Alliance. Worlddidac is the only global organization dedicated to educational infrastructure, and it has recognized the role of HDBaseT as an enabler of cutting-edge e-learning environments.
The HDBaseT Alliance will be showcasing an HDBaseT collaborative classroom at the upcoming ISE 2016 show, in Amsterdam (9-12 February 2016, Stand 5-U92). The demo will include a short-throw projector, with HDBaseT interface, and interactivity through bidirectional USB signal transmission.
“HDBaseT has been a significant technology in the world of education. It provides a better infrastructure for the classroom, enabling better collaboration and interactivity in a cost-effective and simple way. The gamut of products that already embed HDBaseT is a testament to the strength of the technology and its suitability to our market.”
Kateryna Schütz, Director General, a.i., Worlddidac
“The HDBaseT Alliance recognizes Worlddidac’s positive influence in the educational sector, and partnering with the Association is a logical step for us, as both bodies have the goal of promoting the best and most conducive infrastructure to optimize learning environments.”
Ariel Sobelman, President, HDBaseT Alliance
